Croupin it up...

Sorry no posts lately. The fun will return soon, as soon as Landon recovers from his bout of croup, and I recover from my respiratory junk :)

The little guy is such a trooper though. He is in really good spirits despite being sick and is working on his second tooth this week!

I'm Starting to Like this Whole Standing Thing!

Watch This Grandma!

My Mother came to watch Landon this Friday so that Phillip and I could take an overnight trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary. She was so excited to see her little man and to play with him to her heart's content. Evidently Landon was excited too because he showed off to the 9th degree!

When we arrived home on Saturday afternoon, Mom told us all of the things that he had done (she also mentioned that he had worn her out with all of his activities). While we were gone, he had several "firsts" like climbing stairs, standing up in his crib, taking out his pacifier and exchanging it for his bottle (he used to try to drink his bottle at the same time as using his pacifier)...he learns something new every day!

I was sorry to have missed these "firsts", but I experienced a new one that made up for it...Landon finally has enough hair for a proper baby mohawk! Aaah...baby mohawk...

Me, Mommy, Me!

This morning I put Landon into his jumperoo so that I could make his morning bottle. Usually I let him crawl around with me in the kitchen, but I was still half asleep (from waking up 6 times with the little guy - his poor teeth!), so I wanted him safe in his jumperoo while I made his bottle on auto-pilot. Landon didn't care for this departure from our normal routine and started jumping up and down and making noises which I translate as "get me out of here right now Mommy!", or "this is your only warning, if you don't come pick me up in the next 15 seconds I will start crying!".

I peeked over the counter at him and told him "I'm going to come get you in one minute buddy" and Landon took both of this hands, stuck out his index fingers and then began pointing at himself! I started laughing, and of course went and picked him up - it was just too funny! As if I was going to give his bottle away to any other baby...

More Easter Pictures!

Amy took these photos of us at her family's home, Buena Vista, and I am obsessed with them. Natural light is just the best! A really nice camera doesn't hurt either - thanks Amy!

Sunshine, Seersucker, Spring Game

Saturday we spent the day in Chapel Hill, attending the spring football game, walking around campus, and dining on Franklin Street! We met our good friends there, Taylor and Ashley, along with their family and it was a great day. The weather was insanely beautiful, Landon was ridiculously easy-going for a 7 month old baby, and Carolina won the game! (Well of course we did, it's a scrimmage between two halves of the team, but after basketball season I will take any wins that I can!)

Landon especially loved the jumbotron at the game, and watching some young girls play on the quad. Sounds like not too many things will change for him if he decides to go to school there huh?

More Music to My Ears

Last Friday I wrote about Landon enjoying strumming his Dad's guitars, and today I have another music-themed post. After his interest in the guitars, I thought that I would show Landon a more appropriately-aged toy: the xylophone. His "Aunt" Julie bought a nice wooden one for him several months ago, and up until a month ago I kept it in the box so that I could rotate it in as a new toy when he was ready for it. He has mostly been chewing on it, or banging the entire instrument on the ground, but while we were in Wilmington my Mother and I started showing him how he could play the xylophone with the drumstick.

Yesterday morning he got the hang of it, and I was so proud! He would only play a few bars though before he would start eating the drumstick again. Well when Phillip got home from work last night, I asked Landon to "play some music for Daddy". And this is what he did: played several bars, TWIRLED HIS DRUMSTICK IN HIS FIST, then resumed playing!!!

It's not the first time that Landon has used his twirling skills to show-off. When his great-grandmother GiGi was playing with him over the holidays, he kept displaying his skills by taking out his passy, twirling it, switching it from hand to hand, then twirling it again as he put it back in his mouth - he looked like a cowboy from a movie demonstrating his gunmanship.

I guess he just likes to give his audience a show, regardless of the type of show! For now, I'm just waiting for him to try to enlist a baby roadie and find a smelly old baby van for touring...and getting slightly nervous wondering if he is going to inherit his Aunt Jenni's penchant for removing her diaper and dancing on window sills!!!
