7 Months Old!

Our little guy is growing up - too fast for our liking! He eats vegetables like a champ, moves wherever he wants to go, and shows us glimpses of his personality every day. He started crawling on Friday (just a few crawls at a time), then stopped crawling on Monday and instead began leaping like a frog because he realized it was faster, and yesterday he pulled himself up onto his knees for the first time! Sniff...I even think that his legs are starting to lose their baby curve and are starting to straighten out...maybe that happens when they are a few months from walking? Sigh...

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity-Jig!

Just returned home from a lovely visit to the beach, and already nervous about tomorrow...Landon always experiences a bit of a let-down when he realizes that he is stuck with me for the day after spending a weekend spoiled by his Grandmother and both parents.

I was so hopeful that Landon would show off his crawling skills to his Dad and Grandmother, and he didn't disappoint! The first time we put him down to play, he took off (at a snail's pace, and with bunny hops between every few crawls, but hey - we're first time parents and easily excitable)!

I put him down on the floor to play once we got home, and he moves surprisingly faster on the carpet upstairs than he did at my Mom's. I think tomorrow will be a very busy day baby-proofing, as Landon was pulling everything that he could off the entertainment center and coffee table shelfs. So next time you see our house, prepare yourself for the Zen-like simplicity!

To Grandmother's House We Go!

We are headed to Grandmother's house this weekend (as if Landon was in need if any additional spoiling)! I am so excited because I think that Landon is going to crawl for the first time any day now, and I really hope that it happens when both Phillip and my Mother can see it. The little guy is working pretty hard at it, and can put together a sequence of crawls now, but there is such a time delay between each move that you can't quite call it crawling yet :)

He may be too tired to do any practicing today after a late night last night. We went to our friends house to watch the UNC game and Landon ended up watching until the last few seconds! We put him in his car seat next to us with the umbrella cover halfway down, and he didn't make a peep, so we thought he was asleep...but every time we checked on him he was wide awake watching the game with us. That little stinker loves some football and basketball; needless to say, Phillip "likey" too, so he came by it rightfully.

Laundry Laugh Attack

Today I put Landon into his Jumperoo so that I could sit next to him and fold laundry. He was bouncing happily, and I was folding happily, when all of a sudden he had a laugh attack! Although he's seen me "snap" clothes to straighten them before folding, today it was the funniest thing he had ever seen. Here's the video (in the background you can kind of hear the sound of the clothes as I snapped them and sent a cool breeze his way)!

P.S. Watch how he keeps checking out the camera (balanced on the arm of my chair) to make sure it's capturing every moment!

Ladies Man

I always say that Landon "is a mess". That's my term of endearment for his activities, which range from the hilarious, to the destructive. He's into everything - just like all little boys I guess. I have also seen the way he lights up when he sees a pretty girl, or puts his arms out for a gorgeous sales lady to pick him up. But now, he is getting bolder...

Yesterday we were in Target, and I was browsing through the batteries on one of the end-caps near the checkout. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Landon start kicking his legs excitedly. As I turned to talk to him, I saw him pull his pacifier out of his mouth with his left hand, start grinning from ear to ear, then chuck his toy out of the cart! This all happened within 3 seconds - I had no idea he had that sort of hand-eye coordination! He reminded me of a baseball catcher who throws off his face-guard with one hand and catches a fly ball with the other!

As I fully turned around to see why Landon was so excited (and to find his toy), I see two 6 feet tall Kardashian-sister look-alikes. They are both smiling and cracking up at Landon's antics...it turns out that his smile was put on just for them and that he threw his toy directly in their path! So that they had to stop and pick it up, thereby giving him a chance to ask them out? Methinks not, he is only 6 months old after all.

But, he was definitely trying to get their attention and it worked like a charm! As we checked out at the register, the cashier (who had seen the episode) was just laughing and shaking her head. As I said...Landon's a mess!!!

Dinnertime Video

I haven't fully learned how to use iMovie yet, and probably won't do so for a ridiculously long time, so I thought I would go ahead and post the video we took of Landon unhappily eating peas the other night, and very happily eating applesauce! Watching just a bit of it will give you an idea of what happens in our house every night, or if you have 4 minutes to spare, you can watch the whole thing!

He He

I have a new game - it's kind of mean, but it's really fun. It's called "Annoy Landon while he's in his jumper", and Phillip created it last night. Landon has a rainforest jumper that has all sorts of little gadgets for him to play with. One of these is a sun contained within a clear plastic globe that you can spin. Last night Phillip started spinning the globe (which is off to the side compared to the other gadgets) and Landon turned around, stuck his arm out and stopped the spinning! Phillip did it again, and Landon stopped it again!

I was curious to see if Landon would react the same way today...when I started spinning the sun globe he stuck his hand out and stopped the spinning, then gave me a pointed look and returned to playing with his other gadgets. The next couple of times he just glared at me, and tried to rise above my childishness by ignoring me!

Now that I think of it, this isn't so much as a game now, but more of a "nipping Landon's perfectionism/control issues" in the bud! I have no one to blame except myself on this one - the little guy has seen how much I enjoy cleaning our baseboards. And countertops. And window sills. I could go on, but I feel the urge to go clean something now!
